LED Headlight Rubber Dust Cover is Important on Retrofit
Rubber dust cover is widely used in HID retrofit to replace the stock cap. Drill a hole in cover, get the wire from the HID bulb outside of the headlight assembly, then seal the hold good for water proof and dust proof. When we install LED replacement headlight bulbs, rubber dust cover play an important role too.
- LED headlight bulbs have big size heat sink, especially fan-less led headlight bulbs. When installation, heat sink don’t allow the stock flat dust cap to be reinstalled. But rubber dust cover is the cylinder shape and has room for heat sink. It can be installed replaced stock cover and seal headlamp well.
- When we install led headlight with fan, the fan will be very close to original dust cap so that air can’t get in and out, cool system will work poorly, led headlight is possible to burn out because of high working temperature. If we use rubber dust cover, fan will get sufficient room for airflow. Besides, dust cover will prevent dust from entering the headlamp housing, fan can work smoothly and has longer life span.
- Edge of some headlight hole is flat, like picture shown below, there is no holding point for dust cover; or original dust cap is too big to find a same size rubber dust cover to replace it. If we meet the (1) (2) problems above, rubber dust cover just can’t be held on it. Then we can drill a hole on stock cap for rubber dust cover, fill the rubber dust cover in the hole and seal them by sealant.
On the installation process of retrofit led headlight bulbs, we suggest you to use rubber dust cover replaced stock cover for expanding the interior space and allowing airflow. Whatever for led headlight with fan or no fan, this way absolutely can improve heat dissipation and make light bulb has longer life span.
